Are you on a job site without a diagram? Then walk through the house and say what you see: the rooms, the socket outlets, the lighting points, the appliances and what you already know about the fuse box. The Schema reader turns your words into a single-line diagram according to the AREI, with the circuits, the circuit breakers and the cables. You watch the diagram build up while Alan designs it, and then you open it in Trikker to finish it.
Try it right away: log in with the email address of your Trikker license and choose “Describe or dictate”.
When we launched the Schema reader, it was about drawings. But often there is no drawing: with a renovation, an older house or a first visit for a quote, all you have is what you see.
Until now you took notes and drew everything afterwards. Now you do it on site, in one go: what you say or type becomes a first Trikker diagram.
You describe the installation on site, and Trikker turns it into a diagram right away.
How it works
At the top of the Schema reader you now choose between two ways: “Have a drawing read”, as you are used to, or “Describe or dictate”. Here is how it works:
- Choose “Describe or dictate”.
- Say what you see: the rooms, what goes in each room, the appliances, and what you already know, such as the address, the cables or the fuses.
- Type it, or click “Start dictating” and simply speak, in Dutch, French or English. You see live what Alan hears.
- Read the text and correct where needed.
- Click “Make Trikker schema” and watch how Alan builds the single-line diagram circuit by circuit, with the words he based himself on shown for each circuit.
Dictate or type
Dictate your description while you walk through the house, or type it. You read the text before Alan starts.
A complete single-line diagram
Circuits, circuit breakers, cables and residual current devices according to the AREI, with Trikker's symbols.
You carry on
The diagram opens in Trikker, ready to check, complete and place on your plan.
What you say counts
Alan takes over what you mention, and only fills in what you do not say:
- A value you mention goes into the diagram as is, also when dictated: “four double socket outlets on 20 ampere in XVB three times two point five”.
- A value only applies to what you mention it for: the hob in the same sentence gets its own circuit with the usual circuit breaker and cable.
- What you do not mention, Alan fills in according to common practice. Rooms or appliances you do not mention, he does not add.
- If he is unsure, or you mention a value that is lighter than what the circuit requires, that circuit is listed among the points to check.
- The same AREI check follows as with a drawing.
Good to know
- A description does not produce a floor plan: the points are ready in Trikker as not placed, and you put them on your own plan.
- Do you have a drawing? Then “Have a drawing read” remains the fastest way, with the floor plan included.
- Your browser converts your speech to text. The Schema reader only receives the text you checked.
- Dictation works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. In another browser, type your description.
Also new since the launch
Since the launch we work on the Schema reader every day, with what we learn from the first diagrams and from your feedback. This is what else has changed:
- You watch the diagram build up while Alan reads, circuit by circuit, with Trikker's symbols.
- Do you only have a floor plan? Then Alan makes a first single-line diagram from the labels on the plan.
- You enter your own default values (short-circuit rating, curve, cable type, fire class and installation method) once, and Alan uses them where the drawing shows nothing.
- The installer comes from your account, and your own logo appears in the Trikker diagram.
- If you switch language after a reading, the messages, the cards and the checks follow.
- Alan reads better: numbered boards, a board that continues in a second block, circuit letters that only appear on the plan, rotated scans and handwritten corrections, where a crossed-out value is dropped.
- He counts push buttons and solar panels individually, a branch with its own cable label becomes its own line, and a two-way switch without a partner is listed among the points to check.
- On a phone or tablet, the form comes right after the explanation.
- During the beta you get twice as many units.
Everything the Schema reader can do
Want to see everything? In this tour of a few minutes you see every feature at work: reading in a hand-drawn diagram and floor plan, checking every circuit, the checks, and describing and dictating a house into a single-line diagram.
The tour, without sound and with captions. All data is fictional.
Still a beta
Describing and dictating are, like the rest of the Schema reader, a beta. Alan designs a first diagram; you check it in Trikker and remain responsible for the installation. A design costs units like a reading, and we never use a description to teach Alan.
Is Alan missing something in your description, or do you have an idea? Let us know on the forum.
